Yesterday, I had the chance to play the GBA Game "Pokémon Mystery Dungeon Team Red" (I know, it's not that new anymore, but I never played it before °-^)
I was quite interested, since all the "Mystery Dungeon" Games seems to be so popular, and playing a new game is always interesting right?
Let me tell you something about the gameplay in the Dungeons:
When you're walking, you can think about the floor as a big field with lot's of squares. Every time you move a step, all the opponents will do the same, if you're not doing anything, they won't as well.
While holding the B Button you run (fast, you barely see where you're going). Also: when you push the A & B Button at the same time, you regain health. But each time you do that, it counts as a step and the enemies move.
Items lay on the floor and you pick them up by walking on the field.
There is a map which becomes more and more visible when you're walking, so that you see, where you've already been.
In the battle, you can check the direction with the help of a red square, there is a textbox, which informs you about everything that happens and when your Main playable Character dies, you lose your Items and wake up at home.
There is more to say about this game, but this is important right now. You wonder why? Well, have you heard about the PSone Game "Azure Dreams"? Let me give you some information about the gameplay in the Dungeons there as well:

I think, by now you understand why I am talking about it. To be honest: I did not even mention
all the similarities.
Both games are quite nice, with different ideas, different story and so on, but what's with this?
Either some of the Azure Dreams developers helped creating the Mystery Dungeon or the programmers of the Pokémongame loved the Azure Dreams Concept so much, that they had to use it, I don't know.
Anyway, while playing the GBA Game I felt like I am playing an Azure Dreams Copy. I really love the game, even it is quite old now, so I wasn't happy about noticing this.
I'm not going to say, that Mystery Dungeon is a bad game, it has a lot in it, which is new and interesting and from what I've seen and heard it is actually pretty good.
But still it annoys me, that there are so many things in common. When I'm playing a new game, I want to play a new game and not something I already know! It's not like the Final Fantasy Games, for example. One Concept, that's going on and on with a great mix of new things and things you know.
They are two different games, so please: I want a different gameplay!
For those of you, who don't believe me: I've made a little Video about it. Look at it, and you'll see what I am talking about....At least, that's what I wanted to say. Riht now, it keeps bugging. If I get it to work, I'll post a link here. So for who ever is interested take a look every now and then.
Or maybe you can check some YouTube Videos, maybe you'll notice.

Just something that bothers me, sorry for spamming your Messagebox XD
